Film Review
film review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
Saw it yesterday in an advanced screening, was what I was expected for this film, dark, emotional and defiantly eventful! For people who haven’t read the book then I’m not going to spoil it but straight from the get go it is a little depressing, Harry is always on the look out for death eaters or snatchers who are after him. There are a few of surprising deaths of characters we have grown to know but was expected in this film! It isn’t all doom and gloom though; there are some new characters and the return of beloved old ones. It is hard to review this film with out giving too much away. Basically it is the darkest film out of all of them and it follows Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) evading danger, searching for the remaining horcrus and finding out the story of the Deathly Hallows. The end is left on the biggest cliff hanger EVER! And makes you want to watch more. I an eagerly anticipating the next film (part 2). There is some amazing animation half way through which was unexpected but fit really well, (got a lot of time for that). All in all it is an enjoyable film but can be depressing in parts. I would defiantly recommend this film especially if you been a Potter fan and have seen the rest! I would give this film four and a half stars due to the story line and the outstanding cinematography, its an all-round good watch and one of them films you wouldn’t want to watch on the big screen.
film review: The Expendables
Just got back from seeing The Expendables, if you like a lot of explosions and fight scenes then this is the film for you! The film is based around a team of mercenaries “The Expendables” doing what mercenaries do best, killing people and blowing stuff up. The team get given an impossible mission which is a toughie even for all these amazing action heroes. The film has an amazing cameo apperiencs from Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis, this scene is well worth just going to see the film for, its funny and has some real life truths in it! The film wasn’t what I expected, I though it would be a lot funnier but it made up with all the explosive action. Terry Crews plays another brilliant role in the film, the hench guy with all the fire power, which also adds a little humour.
In conclusion the film is an high octane action film for people who love their oldies, it has all the big names Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Steve Austin, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke and you got to love that. I give it 3 1/2 stars for explosive content but was let down on the humour.
film review update
I have always wanted to have a film review website because they influence me a lot in my work. I am constantly going and seeing all the new blockbuster films and all the small indie films. What better way to show my appreciation than to make a section on my blog to review all of these films! Hopefully this will add to the daily views on my blog and also help people make up their mind to go see a film or not. I have adopted a star rating chart to quickly see my view on the film but also a short run down of the plot.
film review: Inception
I went to see Inception the other night with my girlfriend and thought that it would be a fitting film to do the first ever The Mighty Buck film review on. The film is very action packed and has a lot of unexpected twists and turns. The plot is about a group of people who enter dreams via a process called dream sharing, to steal secrets and information from an intended target. The main character Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) has a very shady past and hidden memories, which creep up on the group when in their dream state to jeopardise their missions. During the film they get given their hardest task yet and instead of stealing information they have to plant it (“inception”). There are many problems with this and requires their actions to be perfect but nothing ever runs smoothly.
Over all I believe this to be one of the best films of the year with all the carefully though out cinematography and amazing slow motion filming, not to mention the unique and original plot. I would give this film a solid 4 1/2 stars for an outstanding and exciting experience.
